Marcial’s fascinating history with emeralds began more than 50 years ago while working in a Colombian emerald mine when he was only 19 years old. He opened the first all-emerald store outside of Colombia in Freeport, Bahamas in 1964 featuring his own jewelry designs. A second store was opened in Lahaina, Hawaii, before bringing his unique concept store to Key West in 1980. Since that time, his gem prominence has spread world wide, along with legions of delighted customers.
Through his Spanish and Colombian heritage, Manuel Marcial’s emerald expertise was pivotal in the identification of the origins and value of the gems recovered from Mel Fisher’s discoveries of the Atocha and Santa Margarita Spanish galleons. Diving alongside Fisher and his team, he witnessed these history making finds.
The family business is in its second generation and has continued building upon the legacy of the unique foundation created by Marcial de Gomar.
