The Key West Fishing Tournament (KWFT) is a eight-month-long competition that runs from March through November and is open to the general public. Visiting and resident anglers are encouraged to enter their catches, at no charge, at a tournament weigh station during the eight-month event. All entries receive a certificate noting their catch, and qualify for prizes.

$5,000 in cash prizes highlight this open-to-the-public event which marks the beginning of exciting Keys fishing.

Cash awards are given to each individual participant catching the heaviest dolphin, kingfish, cobia, blackfin tuna, mackerel, mutton snapper, wahoo, mangrove snapper and grunt.

Boat teams scoring the most releases of tarpon, permit, bonefish, barracuda, marlin and sailfish are also rewarded.

Junior anglers under age 15 can also fish.

All fish must be weighed at an official weigh station by an official weigh master. All entries must be on official entry blanks, postmarked or received at KWFT tournament office, P.O. Box 2154, Key West, Fl. 33045 no later than seven days after the catch. Fraudulent use of an entry form by any person will result in disqualification of that person from any further participation in the KWFT.
